Trendy London restaurant Polpo brings its small Venetian plates to Harvey Nichols, Leeds

POLPO Leeds will launches on the Fourth Floor of Harvey Nichols today.

It will be the first restaurant north of London and the restaurant group’s second restaurant outside of London. POLPO Leeds will open on the luxury store’s Fourth Floor, alongside the Harvey Nichols Fourth Floor Café and popular Foodmarket. POLPO restaurants take their inspiration from the rustic back-street wine bars of Venice and feature an array of simple but delicious small plates from the region of Veneto. The interiors reflect the gloriously faded elegance of La Serenissima and the renowned charm of the humble bacaro.

“We have wanted to find a home for POLPO in the north of England for a long time now and, with its already vibrant and exciting restaurant scene, Leeds is the perfect place,” says Luke Bishop, managing director of the restaurant group, which currently operates ten sites in London and Brighton.

Marion Carpentier, Group Food and Hospitality Director at Harvey Nichols, adds, “We’re delighted to be bringing POLPO’s unique Venetian offering to our customers in Leeds. We’ve long been admirers of POLPO and so we’re thrilled to be working with the restaurant group.”

Signature dishes on the menu include cicheti such as fried stuffed olives, zucchini arancini and fig & prosciutto crostini (from £3). Small plates include cod cheeks with lentils & salsa verde, pizzetta with spicy pork and pickled peppers, deep fried polenta-crusted meatballs, and sliced flank steak with porcini (from £6) while the dessert list features flourless chocolate & hazelnut cake, blackberry panna cotta and Tiramisu pot (from £5). POLPO would not be complete without a spritz, and served with either Aperol or Campari, alongside Negronis and Bellinis. The exclusively Italian wine list begins with POLPO’s own label Garganega, Corvina and Prosecco, from £18 per bottle.

Invited guests got to taste some of the dishes, wines and cocktails at a launch event on Thursday.
