Pub of the Week: The Union Hotel

When Victorian speculators started to build the little Sheffield enclave that is Nether Edge they clearly thought that a useful amenity would be a pub. Up went what is still named the Union Hotel and in an area steeped in local history, the building is now Grade II list

Pub of the week: The Keys, Hoyland Common

The Keys (once The Cross Keys) has been a fixture of Hoyland life for a good few generations. But, like so many other pubs in Yorkshire, it fell upon hard times and for a while was boarded up and looked almost ready for demolition. But those days are now behind it and, re-vamped and re-named The Keys, it is mercifully once again open and doing rather well.
