At last, a Pinot Grigio with all the right flavours of ripe pears, lime and a touch of peach.  Dry, fresh and delicious.

Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc 2017, Marlborough, New Zealand, 12.5%, Morrisons down from £9.50 to £7 until 1 January

This stunning Sauvignon is on so many shelves it is easy to ignore, but it is bang on form right now, with zippy, zesty gooseberry and lime flavours.  A tastebud reviver.

CUNE Rioja Crianza 2015, Spain, 13.5%, Booths, down from £10 to £7 until 1 January

A youthful style of Rioja full of cherry and red berry fruit, a hint of vanilla and cocoa on the finish.  Team with lamb or herb-spiked roast chicken.

Terre del Barolo DOCG, Piedmont, Italy, 13.5%, Waitrose down from £19.99 to £14.99 until 1 January

Cherry and crushed raspberry fruit, with notes of star anise, cold tea and damp earth, wrapped up in structuring tannins.  Perfect alongside game or braised beef right now but don’t hurry.  This will keep another 5 years.
