Great Taste, the world’s most coveted blind-tasted food awards, has reached an exciting stage for many producers in the North of England.

Following 10,000 products being judged, the results have been released and show that among the 130 products to be awarded a Great Taste 3-star accolade in 2015, 130 of these products include 12 Northern winners.

Certain dishes really impressed judges such as Beckleberry’s passion fruit and tarragon sorbet which wowed judges, being hailed as an “amazing creative explosion.”

The savoury and sweet combination was also described as a “marriage made in heaven.”

While the producers of these products pridefully take their awards, we await the winners of each region to be announced at the Great Taste Awards Dinner in GT15 Charles Campion judging small prLondon on Monday the 7th of September.

The Great Taste Awards are highly acknowledged as the most respected accreditation for artisan and speciality food producers.

The awards are judged by over 400 of the most demanding palates, including food critics, chefs, restaurateurs, cooks, producers and a host of food writers and journalists.

The panel of judges include MasterChef judge and restaurant critic, Charles Campion, TV presenter & cook, Aggie Mackenzie, Great British Bake Off winner, Frances Quinn amd MasterChef The Professionals finalist, Adam Handling.

The products are judged on taste so are removed of all packaging before judges receive them.

Food critic Charles Champion says the “Great Taste is the only food award worth having.”

The top 50 foods from the event will be announced on Wednesday the 5th of August.
