Local food firm AJ Pies and Pastries will be launching the first ever pork pie made with Yorkshire chorizo at the Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival on the 6th -9th of August.

The local pie makers will give festival goers the chance to taste a genuinely new Yorkshire delicacy – a pork pie made with locally sourced chorizo sausage.

Foodies from around the country will be heading to Huddersfield where they can sample the Yorkshire chorizo pork pie on its launch day.

AJ Pies and Pastries factory manager, Alan Wadsworth, said: “People in Yorkshire take their pies very seriously so we’re excited to be bringing a true Yorkshire first to the food festival.”

“Our delicious chorizo filling offers an exciting twist on the traditional pork pie that we think our customers will love.”

“We chose Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival for the launch because although our pies are sold all over the UK, we’re a Yorkshire company and local people love our food.”

To deliver an authentic taste for the new pie, AJ Pies and Pastries teamed up with Yorkshire firm ‘The British Premium Sausage Co’, whose sausage makers travelled to Barcelona to develop the recipe.

Director Ian Cundell, said: “It took time to perfect our delicious chorizo, but now we make it here in Yorkshire and we’re thrilled to be helping create the first Yorkshire chorizo pork pie”

AJ Pies and Pastries employ 29 local people and was recently awarded a silver medal at the British Pie Awards.

“We’ve carried on creating new tastes in our pie and pasty range, always listening to our customers as we go.”

“We’re looking forward to welcoming people at the Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival to try our new creation – Yorkshire’s first chorizo pork pie.”
