Two of Yorkshire’s award-winning artisan food producers have collaborated to produce a new jam with a difference.

photoMasham based Rosebud Preserves and Sloemotion near York have created a new Blackberry and Sloe Gin Jam.
The new jam, which makes the most of the classic autumn fruit with the addition of Sloemotion’s Sloe Gin, will be launched at the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show this weekend.
“We approached Sloemotion to work on a collaboration, as we wanted to inotrduce a new seasonal jam that inclided sloes, the fruit of the blackthorn,” explains owner and founder of Rosebud Preserves, Elspeth Biltoft.
“We thought that pairing blackberries with sloes would make a perfect combination. The idea of working with a fellow Yorkshire producer, whilst discovering a use for the by-rpoduct of their sloe gin process, turned out to be an opportunity too good to miss.”
Jonathan Curtoys, owner of Sloemotion, was keen to join forces with Rosebud.
“Since we started Sloemotion in 2002 we have always looked for new and interesting ways tp use the unique sloe berry,”says Jonathan.
“When appraoched by Elspeth and the team at Rosebud Preserves we were really interested in the idea of collaborating with them on one of their new presevres.
“Our ethos is very similar, we are both keen to use locally grown ingredients and simple processes to produce flavoursome products. It’s really encouraging to be part of a collaboration that has been created by a like-minded, Yorkshire artisan producer.”
The new jam will see its launch at this weekend’s Harrogate Flower Show (September 10 to 20) and it can be bought on line at www.rosebudpreserves.co.uk.
Elspeth and John Barley from Rosebud Preserves will also be holding a talk and cookery demonstration.
