La Fortezza Vermentino Terre Siciliane 2017, Italy, 13% Marks and Spencer down from £7 to £6 until 1 October

Terrific quality and value from Sicily where Vermentino grapes develop herb-scented, crisp Granny Smith apple and lively citrus notes.  Try with fish and chips.

Paul Mas Vinus Clairette 2017, Languedoc-Roussillon, France, 13%, Morrisons down from £8 to £6.50 until 16 October

Clairette is the grape which makes a fresh-tasting, floral-edged, apple and citrus style of wine.  Good as an aperitif but will go with grilled fish and salads.

Villa Cafaggio Chianti Classico 2014, Italy, 14%, Waitrose, down from £13.49 to £9.99 until 2 October

Seriously good Chianti, with spiced black cherry fruit and truffle undertones.

Errazuriz Max Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, Chile, 14%, Sainsbury down from £12 to £10 until 9 October

Outstanding flavour for money in this cassis-filled, spice-dusted, smooth, elegant wine.  Perfect with beef or game.
