Raisthorpe Manor’s glamorous 9ct Shimmering Toffee & Caramel Vodka Liqueur has proved to be worth its weight in gold this week – quite literally – as it grabbed a Gold Star at Great Taste.

Described as “very smooth and easy to drink” by the Great Taste judges, the 9ct Shimmering Toffee & Caramel Vodka Liqueur – made with real edible gold leaf – picked up a Gold Star, alongside Raisthorpe’s Sloe Port.

The judges praised its “lovely golden colour, good toffee aroma on the nose and pleasant vanilla note”. Raisthorpe’s Sloe Port – also a UK first – was described as having a “gorgeous cherry shade” and “pleasantly fruity” aroma.

“This is our 12th Gold in the Great Taste Awards but every one is very special to us,” said Julia Medforth, MD of Raisthorpe Manor Fine Foods.

“A lot of skill, fruit and Yorkshire magic goes into each and every bottle and we’re so proud to have struck gold once more!”

Great Taste Awards – described as the epicurean equivalent of the Booker prize – is organised by the Guild of Fine Food and is the acknowledged benchmark for fine food and drink.

In 2015, more than 400 judges from all corners of the world came together at 49 judging days from March through to early July to blind-taste more than 3,000 products.
