Taste the Difference Furmint 2016, Hungary, 12.5%, Sainsbury down from £10 to £8.50 until 30 October

Furmint is one of Hungary’s local grapes and it is delicious with notes of honeysuckle, peach and herbs.  Try it with chicken and pork.

Cune Barrel Fermented Rioja Blanco 2016, Spain, 13%, Waitrose down from £10 to £8.50 until 30 October

Ignore the ‘barrel fermented’ description – the flavours are citrus and cream, not floorboards.  Perfect with oven baked fish dishes, especially when there are olives on the plate.

Craft 3 Malbec 2017, Uco Valley, Argentina, 14%, Marks and Spencer down from £10 to £8 until 5 November

From high altitude vineyards in the Uco Valley, this is a lively, juicy, damson and blackcurrant style of Malbec.  Team it with steak, sausages or a meaty lasagne.

The Best Palo Cortado Sherry, Spain, 19%, Morrisons down from £6 to £5 for 37.5cl until 6 November

Made by Lustau, this is a delicious way to get re-acquainted with sherry. Dry and smooth and full of hazelnut and raisin flavours, serve just slightly chilled with cheese and charcuterie.
