The Waterfront Chardonnay Viognier 2017, South Africa, 13%, Waitrose down from £7.99 to £5.99 until 28 August

A great value wine with zippy, fresh, citrus fruit backed by notes of mango and apricot.  Perfect with cold chicken and salads.

Elegant Frog Viognier 2017, Languedoc, France, 13.5%, Sainsbury down from £7.50 to £6.75 until 28 August

Just a small reduction on offer, but this wine is really worth its full price.  Made by one of the Languedoc’s best winemakers, it has ripe rounded apricot fruit with a crisp finish.

Finca Constancia Selección 2014, Vino de la Tierra de Castilla, Spain, 14%, Booths down from £9.50 to £8 until 28 August

A mix of Bordeaux classic grapes with Spanish regulars, making this a rich, complex, vibrant wine, packed with red berry fruit and balanced, smooth elegant tannins.  Try it with game and cheese.

Gérard Bertrand Reserve Merlot 2017, Languedoc-Roussillon, France, 14%, Morrisons down from £9 to £6.50 until 4 September

Lots of juicy cassis and red plum fruit with a rounded, smooth finish.  Perfect with a Bank Holiday barbecue but this will also drink well as autumn arrives.
