Plans have been revealed for a new garden-themed bar and restaurant at Trinity Leeds shopping centre complete with a huge rooftop terrace overlooking the city.

The Potting Shed Bar and Secret Garden will be a landmark venue for the BurningNight Group which also owns and operates the Bierkeller Entertainment Complexes.

BurningNight is already familiar with the Potting Shed brand as it provides design and management services to brand owner, Ormsborough Limited. Ormsborough owns and operates two Potting Sheds in Bingley and Beverley and is due to open two more in Northallerton and Guiseley during the year.

Ormsborough has granted BurningNight a licence to use the brand and is intending to invest in this ambitious venture. The investment will be made alongside a multi-million pound investment by BurningNight which will see the top floor space transformed into a large bar and restaurant unlike anything the city has seen before, able to cater for more than 600 customers internally with at least a further 100 on the stunning rooftop.

It will house three distinct but linked bars – The Potting Shed, Orchard and Secret Garden – which will each have an individual quirky retro design and all serve locally sourced food created in a theatre kitchen.

The new venue will have its entrance on Bond Street, one of the busiest streets in the heart of Leeds city centre and a hub for shoppers, office workers and students.

Trinity Leeds is already the city’s biggest shopping and leisure destination, welcoming more than 20million visitors a year, and the two-storey Potting Shed and Secret Garden with its skyline views is set to become a showpiece attraction.

Allan Harper, CEO of Burning Night Group – co-owners of The Potting Shed – commented: “The Potting Shed is a truly home-grown Yorkshire brand and signing this sought-after rooftop space at Trinity Leeds is perfect for us. Trinity is now synonymous with the city and we’re excited to be a part of, and expand on, the centre’s already illustrious reputation as a Leeds institution. Trinity’s customers and setting completely align with The Potting Shed’s stylish, sophisticated and hassle-free menu and best-of-Leeds experience.

“We know the city well, because we already own a Bierkeller Entertainment Complex here, and the Potting Shed and Secret Garden will give people the chance to experience and enjoy a different side of our business.

“Our Potting Shed concept has been a big success since we launched the first in Bingley two years ago and the Leeds site, as our first city centre one, will have all the characteristic garden features plus the Secret Garden which is something special we’re creating as a first here.”

The project is being backed by major industry investor Downing LLP. Steven Kenee, partner at Downing LLP, said they were pleased to be supporting the continued growth of the brand.

“Trinity Leeds is an award-winning and, in many ways, trailblazing leisure and retail destination. It’s one of the most prestigious in the North of England and we are proud to be able to help take its development to the next level – quite literally!” he said.
