Brew Haus, Bradford, has been named as the Best Pub in West Yorkshire in the prestigious National Pub & Bar Awards.

The bar, situated alongside the Alhambra Theatre, has been selected as one of 94 County Winners out of hundreds of nominations from across the UK.

The venue owners will receive the award from Pubs Minister Marcus Jones MP on Tuesday, 24 May, at the prestigious BAFTA in Central London. It also means that Brew Haus goes through to the National Pub & Bar Awards Grand Final, with a chance of being named one of 12 Regional Winners or even Best Pub in the UK.

The National Pub & Bar Awards, organised and hosted by Pub & Bar magazine, is a fresh, innovative celebration set up to reward the trade for exemplary retailing excellence and the unwavering service it provides, and to showcase these attributes and success stories on a national scale.

Tristan O’Hana, editor of Pub & Bar magazine said: “From perfect service to product range, aesthetic design or entertainment schedules, the 94 County Winners have been selected by Pub & Bar magazine’s internal judging panel on all of the aspects required to provide ultimate hospitality within the on-trade.

These pubs represent all that is great about the modern on-trade. You can only imagine the fantastic variety of operations we have discovered through the judging process – it’s been an absolute pleasure to investigate just how all of these incredible operators run their businesses.”

Aaron Mellor is Managing Director of Tokyo Industries which owns Brew Haus Bradford. He said: “We’re really honoured that Brew Haus has been given this award from the industry’s top experts – recognising all the hard work that has gone into creating a cool, contemporary venue with the right ambiance for West Yorkshire’s pub scene. From square one, we’ve always wanted to play our part in putting Bradford back on the leisure map, so we’re delighted we’ll be able to spread the word to the whole UK hospitality sector at this major event in London, too.”

Brew Haus opened at the end of 2015 as part of a £1.2million development which saw the old Windsor Baths building off Great Horton Road converted into a stunning nightlife complex, with four brand new leisure venues. Brew Haus is a traditional drinking hall, serving craft beers and hand-crafted cocktails by the award-winning Liquorists of Manchester, plus a wide range of world beers, gins, whiskeys, and rums. It specialises in artisan pizza and champion butchers’ pies, with ingredients sourced from local farms and butchers to create its fresh food menu.

The venue has already become a well-loved Bradford hub, providing a platform for up-and-coming local musicians, and staging a range of events such as the forthcoming Bradford Independent Beer Festival over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend which will be promoting local and UK real ale breweries. A monthly Sunday vintage market offers a community event for local creatives to get together and showcase their work.

Brew Haus is also popular with theatre-goers and performers alike – with the cast of The Alhambra Panto making it their regular haunt and praising the venue on social media.

The venue boasts a secret rooftop garden where revellers can enjoy stunning views across the city centre in the summer months. It also offers a private dining area for 20 people and a gallery for 50 people with presentation facilities suitable for meetings and events

The new venues have been pivotal in the revival of the city’s centre’s West End leisure area and a big part of Bradford’s renaissance under the Council’s Growth Zone scheme.

Bradford Council Leader David Green said: “Congratulations to all those involved in winning this award. It is great for the city and it is down to the efforts of the staff and owners who have produced a quality offer and the right environment for customers”.

Brew Haus and the adjoining Stein Bierkeller will be hosting the next Yorkshire Enterprise Network event on Thursday, May 5, showcasing what it has to offer to businesses.

Director of Yorkshire Enterprise Network Sheraz Malik said: “Congratulations to the Brew Haus team on winning this prestigious award. It’s fantastic to see their investment and the confidence they’ve shown in Bradford paying off with national recognition. I hope their success will be an inspiration to others to build on this momentum and continue bringing their businesses into Bradford
