The products have been tasted and the entries whittled down for this year’s much anticipated Taste Awards 2016 shortlist.

Over four days at the end of August, the Pavilions of Harrogate played host to a team of expert judges who sipped, slurped and nibbled their way through over 350 entries from the regions finest food and drink producers, hotels, restaurants, butchers and farm shops.

Run in association with ASDA, the Taste Awards are now the biggest and most respected awards of their kind in the region and attract entries from new and innovative businesses each year as well as the more well established Yorkshire favourites.

Judy Bell, Chairman of Deliciouslyorkshire said: “Yet again the Taste Awards have attracted a record number of entries and we are 10% up on numbers for the second year which is a great testament to the high regard in which these awards are now held throughout the industry.

“This year’s team of top notch judges included chefs, bloggers, supermarket buyers as well as Taste Awards stalwart BBC Radio 2’s resident foodie Nigel Barden who loves coming back to his native Yorkshire to take part in the judging and sampling some of the new and innovative entries we receive each year.

“The quality throughout has again been a pleasure to judge and with a number of stand-out items in each category, the judges really had their work cut out. We’ve also added in a new Yorkshire Wine category for 2016 which we’ve had a great response to and which reflects the thriving industry and quality of wine now produced in the region.”

The overall winners for each category are to be announced at a glitzy black tie awards ceremony at the Pavilions of Harrogate on Wednesday 2nd November.

Helen Miles, Deliciouslyorkshire’s Marketing and Media Manager said: “It’s going to be another fantastic night celebrating the hard work and dedication of all those Yorkshire food and drink businesses who’ve entered this year’s awards.

“The evening will start with a drinks reception of Yorkshire cocktails guests sit down to a locally sourced menu, specially designed for the event using a number of the shortlisted products. The Awards ceremony itself will once again be in the capable hands of Nigel Barden who will reveal this year’s category winners as well as our 2016 overall supreme champion. We’ll round off the evening with music and dancing before bringing the evening to a close.”
