Northern Monk Brewery take a step into the future and launch their first canned beer

Northern Monk Brewery has released their core range of beer in canned form.

The range includes three different beers, Eternal Session IPA, Northern Star Mocha Porter and New World IPA.

Eternal is a light blonde pale ale which has a tangerine aroma with a citrus flavour. Northern Star is a dark beer which incorporates coffee flavours, hazelnut and chocolate. The final of the three available in a can is a classic India Pale Ale which uses a combination of British, Australian and American hops to make its flavour.

Northern Monk Brewery is using the latest technology of canning to provide customers with the beer in a more environmentally friendly way. The Northern Monk is one of the first breweries in the UK  to receive an in house wild Goose Canning Line.

Russell Bisset founder and owner of the Northern Monk Brewery said:

“Our raison d’être from the inception of the brewery has been to take the best of what came before us and look at how we move that forwards and embrace the best of the new, whether that’s ingredients, techniques, dispense or packaging.

We’re incredibly excited to be able to bring our beers to our customers in a more environmentally and fresher way.

The canning line will also open doors for us internationally and help us build on the trade we now do across Europe, we’re in talks with distributors in the U.S. as well as other destinations further afield and look forward to taking the beer we produce in the centre of Leeds across the world.

Closer to home it’s been great to work with independents across the region and we look forward to further opportunities to support and collaborate with other up and coming businesses in the City.”

Northern Monk Brewery first began this journey in 2008 when they began locally brewing beer. They found their permanent home in Leeds Industrial Site of Holbeck in 2014 and opened the Northern Monk Refectory and Tap Room.

The company, now with the launch of their canned beer is looking to include a second site with a cold store warehouse. This they hope will increase there production from the current 10,000 pints a week to 15,000.

The tap room based in Holbeck has a range of 20 beers on draft, an exclusive range of bottled beer and the newly available canned beer. It also plays host to various events throughout the year including live music events supporting Northern artists.

The refectory also has kitchen residents The Grub & Grog, who serve breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.

The new canned beer will be available in the breweries refectory and tap room, online as well as local quality beer shops.
