The Shibden Mill Inn has impressed judges at The Great British Pub Awards 2015 and been named as a finalist in the Best Freehouse Pub category.

The historic inn, owned by Simon and Caitlin Heaton, is now in with a chance of being crowned regional winner of Best Freehouse Pub for the Yorkshire, North East and Scotland region.

It could then go on to be named national champion for the category at The Great British Pub Awards, with a final ceremoney being held on September 10 at the London Hilton Hotel. .

The awards are organised by the Publican’s Morning Advertiser.

Thrilled owner Simon Heaton, said: “It is great to know that Shibden Mill Inn impressed judges and beat off stiff competition to make it as a finalist.

“We are committed to providing a memorable experience for all our visitors and guests and recognition such as this is testimony to the hard work and dedication of the team. We’re delighted.”

Earlier this year Shibden Mill was named Inn of the Year 2015 by Les Routiers and opened a new upstairs Grill Room serving the region’s finest meats, fish and locally grown produce.

Often referred to as a ‘hidden gem’, the 17th Century inn nestles in the fold of the Shibden Valley, opposite Red Beck, the mill stream that once powered the Inn’s enterprising past.
