Award winning Rudding Park in Harrogate is a launching a new pop up restaurant, Horto.

Harrogate born Murray Wilson has been appointed Head Chef of Horto @Rudding Park . Latin for kitchen garden, Horto uses seasonal ingredients from Rudding Park Kitchen Garden.

The menu is dictated to by nature, the skill of the gardener and the flair of the Chef. Murray will cook, serve and share the story of each dish throughout the evening.

Guests should expect the unexpected with his fresh take on humble ingredients, showcasing them with his modern interpretation both in the cooking methods and presentation.

IMG_4461Horto offers a tasting menu which changes on a regular basis. To add to the experience  guests are recommended to resist the temptation to look at the menu and discover the dishes and taste sensations as they go.

Guests can expect a sense of food theatre as chefs and waiters interact to create a friendly and relaxed ambience within a dramatic setting with bold interiors.

Peter Banks Managing Director of Rudding Park  said “We are thrilled to welcome Murray to the team – he is a talented innovative chef and certainly one to watch. Pop Ups are becoming increasingly popular and it is fantastic way to offer our guests something a little different this summer. We are confident Horto and Murray’s food will surprise and delight our guests.”

A familiar face on the Harrogate/Yorkshire food scene, Murray previously worked at Norse, Hotel du Vin and The Yorke Arms in Ramsgill where he perfected classic techniques.

In 2008 Murray was second on Masterchef: The Professionals and he has also worked at Atelier Restaurant in Ottawa, Canada and for Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s.

Murray said “I have been working with Adrian, the Kitchen Gardener at Rudding Park so we can ensure the garden is ripe with a range of quality heritage varieties that are usually hard to find, allowing me to create a range of dishes packed full of flavour. I just can’t wait to get started.”
