Bradford Food and Drink Festival 30th & 31st October. Bradford Markets will be working with local businesses and Jamie’s Ministry of Food to bring on a quality food and drink experience for all to attend.

The festival, which is being designed to complement the great food offering already in Oastler Centre will take place Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October on Northgate/Rawson Road and will see the two foodies, Gennaro Contaldo and Sean Wilson,  demonstrating their talents alongside local chefs and representatives from local food businesses.

Gennaro Contaldo who is a highly respected chef and who has worked in some of London’s most popular restaurants, such as Antonio Carluccio’s Neal Street Restaurant as well as being known for the BBC series Two Greedy Italians, and mentoring Jamie Oliver will be cooking on Friday 30  October at 12 noon.

Sean Wilson

Sean Wilson who is a well-known actor, playing Martin Platt in the Nation’s favourite soap Coronation Street for 21 years (1984-2005), now owns The Saddleworth Cheese Company with best friend of 30 years Mark Revell. His cheeses have won numerous awards and Sean is now a Patron of the International Cheese Awards and a respected cheese judge. He will be performing on Saturday 31 October at 11am and 2pm.

All three 45 minute sessions are available to the public. Customers will need to obtain a free ticket for each performance from the Markets Office, unit 1-5, Kirkgate Market, Bradford. Only two tickets per person per performance will be permitted. As well As Gennaro and Sean we have Robert Ramsden Head of Specialist Food Development, from St James’s Wholesale Market based firm Deli Fresh,  Mathew Benson Smith, a 2 Michelin starred trained Chef and Consultant, Sandy Docherty from The Great British Bake Off and Cona Restaurant who are based in Little Germany. There will also be a cook off between Bradford College Catering Students and Dixie and Emma from Heart Radio.

The Market will run from approx 9am – 5pm.

The Festival will offer an assortment of street food and local produce such as gourmet burgers, locally made pork pies and home made mushy peas, spicy chicken and veggie wraps with home made salsa and slaw, German hot dogs and Greek style wraps. This will complement the existing food offering from the businesses within the Oastler Centre such as Roswitha’s Deli and Thai Fever noodle bar, as well as North Parade venues The Sparrow, Al’s Dime Bar, Bradford Brewery and many more.

There will also be local craft ales, ciders and spirits to take away as well as a range of bars serving local brews and stalls serving fresh coffee and doughnuts.

To keep the festival vibe going there will be street performers and live music and some Halloween activities and competitions for all the family to enjoy.
