Putting a modern twist on a traditional style recipe, the Ripon based business The Little Red Berry Co, produces liqueurs such as their bestselling Rhubarb Vodka Liqueur and award winning Blackberry Whisky Liqueur, which won the award for Best Wine or Spirit at the Deliciouslyorkshire awards in Autumn 2014.

Owner Rachel Jamieson says: “2014 was a great year for us, we saw a large increase in repeat customers who would seek us out at shows and food festivals and more wholesale clients began to approach us, with our rustic brand being a real draw for new customers”

Now in their fourth year at Sycamore Business Park, Copt Hewick and production increasing, space is rapidly running out.

Rachel says: “We started with a small number of production tanks back in 2011 and now we have more than doubled our output, so we were struggling for space”.

“When we got the go ahead to expand into the neighbouring unit this winter and create more space without having to disrupt our current production, it was a great opportunity. We are now stepping into the spring/summer season with the fantastic additional storage space we need and much easier access. We are still very much a small scale producer and staying close to our roots is important to us, we started in a recession and there was no funding available at the time. So any growth we have done has been achieved organically.”

Standing still is never an option for owner Rachel and her husband Rob so more plans are already in the pipeline for The Little Red Berry Co in 2015. Look out for them at a local shows for a tasting of their sumptuous and versatile drinks. Next on the calendar will be Dales Food and Drink Festival, Leyburn and Malton Food Festival both in May.
